Camel Cards for Faculty & Staff

Information for Students

The Camel Card is the official College ID card and an important aspect of daily campus life. The Camel Card must be carried at all times and is to be presented at the request of any college official. Use of the Camel Card is governed by the College’s Camel Card Holder Agreement.

Camel Cards allow you to:

  • Gain access to various residence halls, classrooms and labs, and athletic facilities
  • Gain access to the dining halls and your meal plan funds (Dining Dollars)
  • Check out library materials
  • Print documents and make photocopies 
  • Make purchases for goods and services wherever  such as The Bookshop, Oasis Snack Shop, the Campus Mailroom, Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Coffee, campus vending machines, Printing and Mailing Services, Yellow Cab Co. Taxi Service, and other locations.
  • Use Camel Cash at various Off Campus merchants in the area, for an up to list of merchants that accept Camel Cash please check our .

Lost or Damaged Card Protocol

Lost or stolen cards should be immediately  and reported to the Residential Life Office.

Contact the Residential Life Office during business hours at (860) 439-2843. After business hours, email housing@conncoll.edu. You will need to go to the Residential Life Office for a replacement card. There is a $25 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards. The fee is billed to a student’s account.

The College is not liable for lost or stolen cards. The card holder is responsible for unauthorized transactions resulting from the loss or theft of their card.

It is very important that you protect your Camel Card from damage by keeping it in a wallet, ID holder or other secure place. The following may make the card unusable: a vertical or ragged break, bending, hole-punching, gouging, scratching, placing stickers on the card, placing the card near a strong magnet, or running the card through a washer/dryer.

Any card made unusable due to an intentional act will result in a $25 replacement fee.

Stored Value Funds on your Camel Card

The Camel Card comes with three stored value accounts: Dining Dollars, Printing Funds, and Camel Cash.

Dining Dollars

Students who have purchased a meal plan automatically receive Dining Dollars to be used at the Oasis Snack Shop in Cro and all other dining halls. When you run out of Dining Dollars, you can use Camel Cash at campus eateries.

Printing Funds

All full time students receive $30 in Printing Funds at the beginning of the fall semester to be used anytime during the academic year. These funds may be used at any of the multi-function devices in the library and elsewhere on campus. Once the Printing Funds account is depleted, the funds on your Camel Cash account may be used.

Camel Cash

Camel Cash is the College’s “prepaid debit account” (also referred to as a stored value account). Camel Cash is accepted at a variety of locations across campus and  as well.

Camel Cash accounts have no pre-loaded funds.  using Visa, MasterCard or Discover by the Camel Card holder as well as parents, friends or relatives of the Camel Card holder. To deposit money into an account, you must enter the card holder’s Camel Card ID number and last name.

Visit  24/7 to deposit money into a Camel Cash account.

Funds are available immediately after a deposit.  or whenever you swipe your card to make a purchase.

Meal Plans

The Camel Card is used to gain access to campus dining halls. Meal plans are activated once a student arrives on campus and completes the online enrollment census. Any questions about a meal plan should be directed to Dining Services by calling 860-439-2750 or emailing dining@conncoll.edu.

Door Access

The Camel Card is used to enter residence halls and other buildings across campus. Residence hall door access plans are automatically assigned to students based on the residence hall in which they live. Door access plans are deactivated during summer and winter breaks, and reactivated when students return. Students, faculty, or staff that wish to use their Camel Card to gain entry to academic buildings and other areas must submit a written request from a department chairperson or director. The written request should be submitted to camelcard@conncoll.edu, and is subject to approval.

Camel Cash

Camel Cash is the College’s “prepaid debit account” that allows funds to be loaded onto your Camel Card for use at a variety of  across campus. The debit card function is activated when you deposit money into your Camel Cash account.

With Camel Cash, you have the convenience of cash without the need to carry cash, credit cards, checks, or a pocket full of coins. Present your Camel Card when you make a purchase and the amount of your purchase will automatically be deducted from your Camel Cash account.

There are no monthly service fees or minimum balance requirements. Any unspent funds rollover to the following semester and are refundable upon graduation or withdrawal.

 

Make a Deposit

Camel Cash accounts have no pre-loaded funds. You can add Camel Cash to a Camel Card 24/7. Deposits can be made online using Visa, MasterCard or Discover by the Camel Card holder as well as parents, friends or relatives of the Camel Card holder. To deposit money into an account, you must enter the card holder’s Camel Card ID number and last name.

Check My Balance & Transaction History

When you login to , there is a portal where you can access all the information attached to your Camel Card which includes account balances and transaction history. In addition, you can get your available balance by asking for it at any location that accepts Camel Cash. You can also check your balance or transaction history by emailing camelcash@conncoll.edu.

The Accounting Office can only share account balance information with the account holder. Anyone other than the account holder requesting information must have the account holder’s express consent to access that account holder’s information.

 

Receiving a Refund

Upon withdrawal, graduation or termination of employment from the College, balances remaining on the Camel Cash account will be applied to the participant’s Student Account/Accounts Receivable Account to settle any outstanding amounts owed to the College. If a credit balance remains on the Student Account/Accounts Receivable Account after settlement of any outstanding balances, refunds will be issued in accordance with College policy. 

A refund is issued in the form of a check, and will be mailed to the permanent address on record with the College. Refunds will not be issued for account balances less than $1.00.

The Camel Card can be used for a variety of services on campus. There are several locations around campus that accept Camel Cash:

  • All dining halls on campus
  • Oasis Snack Shop - located in the College Center at Crozier-Williams (“Cro”)
  • The Campus Mailroom - located in the College Center at Crozier-Williams (“Cro”)
  • The Bookshop - located in the College Center at Crozier-Williams (“Cro”)
  • Vending Machines - located throughout campus
  • Copy/Print Machines - located throughout campus
